Goals 1: objectives and key results

Objectives and key results for a period: progress worked out from start, current and target, a pace mark on each bar for where it should be today, on track, at risk or behind in words, overall progress, team filter and in-place updates.

State

The normal view. Pick a state to see what the block shows while it loads, is empty or fails.

Open in v0 (opens in a new tab)

Installation

$ pnpm dlx shadcn@latest add @ballmac/goals-1

Usage

Example: goals-1-demo.tsx
"use client"

import { Goals1 } from "@/components/ballmac/blocks/goals-1/goals-1"

export default function Goals1Demo() {
  return <Goals1 onUpdate={() => new Promise((r) => setTimeout(r, 500))} />
}

States

Pass state and the block does the rest: skeletons that match its layout, a clear empty message, an error you can retry, and announcements for screen readers.

  • Loading

    A skeleton summary and objective cards under the real heading, announced as loading.

    state="loading"
  • No goals yet

    Says to set an objective and the results that would show it worked; emptyState sets the copy and can add a button.

    state="empty" (or objectives={[]})
  • Could not load

    An alert saying nothing was changed, with Try again (onRetry). An update that fails to save puts the old number back with the reason.

    state="error"

Quality scorecard

8/8

Every applicable check passes

Measured in Chromium 153.0.8010.12 on October 19, 2026, on version 1.0.0, across 5 examples.

How we measure
  • Passed: Accessibility scan

    No serious or critical issues in light and dark, on a phone and a desktop (axe-core 4.13.0, WCAG 2.1 AA and best-practice rules).

  • Passed: Small screens

    No sideways scrolling at 360, 390 or 1280 px wide.

  • Passed: Reduced motion

    Every endless animation stops when the visitor asks for less motion.

  • Passed: Right to left

    Mirrors correctly in Arabic, Hebrew, Persian and Urdu layouts (2% of elements off the mirror, limit 15%).

  • Passed: Clean console

    No console errors or React hydration errors while loading.

  • Passed: Keyboard

    25 tab stops, each showing a visible change when it takes focus. 3 documented keys.

  • Passed: Loading, empty and error

    Ships loading, empty, error states, each with an example.

  • Passed: Automated tests

    Covered by goals-1.test.tsx.

  • For information: Footprint

    5.4 KB of source (gzip) in 1 file. Installs lucide-react.

Automated checks find a subset of problems and do not replace testing with a screen reader and a keyboard in your own app. What they miss.

OKRs. <Goals1 objectives={[{ id, title, owner, team, keyResults: [{ id, title, start, target, current, unit, prefix }] }]} period='Q4 2026' range={['2026-10-01', '2026-12-31']} today='2026-11-12' locale onUpdate={(objective, keyResult, value) => Promise} />. Key result progress is (current - start) / (target - start), clamped 0 to 1, so a target below the start means lower is better. Status compares progress with the share of the period gone: within 10 points On track, within 25 At risk, else Behind, 100% Done. Pass today yourself; the block never reads the clock. Reject onUpdate and the old value returns with the message. With the shadcn MCP server set up (guide), ask your agent:
