Theme tokens

The CSS variables Ballmac components read, and the motion variables the Ballmac theme derives.

On this page

Color and shape tokens

Every component reads these standard shadcn variables. Change them in your globals.css and every Ballmac component follows.

TokenUsed for
--background, --foregroundPage and text
--cardRaised surfaces
--primaryPrimary actions
--mutedQuiet surfaces and secondary text
--accentHover and selected states
--border, --inputHairlines and field borders
--ringFocus ring
--destructiveErrors and dangerous actions
--chart-1 to --chart-5Charts, accents and status dots
--radiusCorner radius

Motion tokens

Motion is part of the theme. The Ballmac theme sets these variables:

TokenMeaning
--bm-speedHow fast everything moves
--bm-bounceHow springy
--bm-travelHow far things travel
--bm-hoverHow much hover lifts
--bm-staggerThe delay between items

It derives --bm-ease-out, --bm-ease-spring, and --bm-duration-fast, --bm-duration-base and --bm-duration-slow from them. Tailwind's duration-* and ease-* classes follow, and animated components import the same values from @ballmac/motion-presets, so CSS and Motion animations share one rhythm.

See Motion settings for the ranges, and how motion works.
